RN - Wound Care

FT; Mon - Fri, 8a - 4:30p

$15,000 Sign-On Bonus

In this autonomous position, the Wound/Ostomy Nurse practices to provide the Mother Standard of care to oncology patients across the adult and geriatric spectrum.  Compassionate and competent nursing care is provided to patients and their family members within the realm of relationship-based care  The Wound Ostomy Nurse will be  Responsible for hands-on patient assessment, creation of evidence based treatment plans, thorough documentation and education for all patients including in-patient, out-patient, pre-operative and post-operative patients as consulted by the physician.  The Wound/Ostomy Nurse will also Develops and provides nursing education for ostomy, wound, and skin care for optimal patient care.  Utilizes effective communication to support a culture of caring and healing in which the patient and family are the central focus.  Nursing care addresses physical, spiritual, emotional and educational needs of the patient, and coordinates the plan of care with other healthcare professionals, support persons and all members of the healthcare team.  Act in compliance with SERMC and enterprise policies/procedures as well as the GA Nurse Practice Act.  In addition, follows the enterprise-wide nursing professional practice model philosophy.

Required Education/Experience

  • Current state Registered Nurse License required

  • Bachelor of Science Degree required or enrolled within 6 months of hire and  completed within 3 years from hire date

  • Current BLS required

  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy certification preferred

  • WCC or  WOCN

  • Minimum  2 years experience in Wound Care required

  • Experience in multi-disciplinary approach to patient care

  • Membership and active involvement in any wound / ostomy organization
