Position is located at 500 E. Remington Rd., Schaumburg, IL 60173

Cancer Services Center (CSC) - Cancer Nurse Advocate
The Nurse Advocates will be responsible for fielding incoming patient/customer calls; gaining an
understanding of the clinical situation, interests, and desires of the patient/customer; then describing the
potential range of Marketplace services or products that are appropriate and might be of interest to the
patient/customer. The Nurse Advocates, utilizing their oncology nursing training, will convey all
relevant options in a manner that is both informative and understandable, guiding the patient/customer
through a relevant decision tree or selection process. The Advocate must be able to use discernment and
insight to understand what non-clinical factors are influencing the patient’s/customer’s perspective and
desires, then should offer solutions and pathways that reflect and respect the individual’s situation. The
Advocate will be able to effectively describe the value and scope of each Marketplace offering and will
facilitate the comparison of these offerings as desired by the patient/customer.

When a patient makes a determination to proceed with a service or product, the Advocate will facilitate
the transaction in the appropriate fashion. Generally, in the case of appointments requested with
Network partners, the Advocate will maintain contact with the patient/customer while making outbound
contact with the provider to identify a mutually agreeable day/time for an appointment. This process will
be considered provisional scheduling, with detailed follow-up and coordination to be provided by the
Cancer Concierge. Generally, in the case of virtual oncology services, the Advocate will assist the patient
with an on-line transaction or will complete the transaction by phone.

Education, Experience and Skills Requirements

  • RN degree required; BSN preferred
  • Minimum 5 years of nursing experience required
  • OCN certification preferred
  • Excellent telephone presence and skills
  • Active and compassionate listener
  • Organized communicator with superb attention to detail
  • Superior ability to use computer systems, including the Microsoft Office suite
  • Ability to facilitate point of purchase transactions
  • Wholly supportive of patient empowerment with a demonstrated commitment to the highest level customer service
